December has arrived, and with it the opportunity and privilege to share the Gospel with thousands of people.
The days and weeks leading up to Christmas are some of our busiest of the year, and that’s because our pastors, spread out across two states, are given numerous opportunities, in settings large and small, to talk about the significance of Christ’s coming. So many will be hearing this Story for the first time. Even now, we’re praying that God will reconcile hundreds, if not thousands of people to Himself as we faithfully proclaim the Good News. Please pray with us for the salvation of those who are lost.
At the end of this month, we’ll baptize 20 new believers. As they follow Jesus into the waters of baptism they are publicly proclaiming that they have put their faith in the one true God, which can lead to estrangement from friends and family members. Pray for these new Christians as they take this significant step. Pray, too, for the salvation of those who may not yet understand why their loved ones have chosen Christ over their ancestral religion.
Continue to pray for the safety and well-being of our pastors and their families as they venture out in faith to plant new churches. They are moving into unreached areas with great boldness and making so many sacrifices along the way. With several new churches opening this month, God is so evidently at work through them.
The number of college-aged young people attending Madhurawada Church has grown steadily over the last two years, so on December 6 we’ll host a Christmas service just for our students. This will give them an opportunity to invite their friends to hear more about Jesus and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. We’re anticipating a packed house, with more than 100 people expected to show up. Pray for our youth, their peers, and this special gathering on December 6. In a culture dominated by Hinduism, we thank God for the opportunity to influence young people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As we look ahead to 2016, pray that God would continue to use our ministry to bring the good news of Jesus to those who so desperately need to hear it. Several new church planters will be joining our team next year and doors are opening for us to start new churches in key cities across our state. As always, we want to move forward in faith as we extend the kingdom of God in India.
Finally, would you ask God to strengthen us in every conceivable way? We know that He is not reluctant to do so. In fact, Isaiah reminds us that “…the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion.” Join us in laying hold of God’s grace and compassion, especially on behalf of India. There are still so many who have never heard the saving message of Jesus.
Since 1992 Vision Nationals has been planting churches, training nationals, and caring for India’s most vulnerable. Donations to support our work are greatly appreciated. All gifts are tax-deductible and can be designated to the ministry, fund, or project of your choice.
